Pittsburgh:   The first evening you will lodge at the Courtyard by Marriott/Downtown, the Springhill Suites/Southside or the Courtyard by Marriott at the Waterfront…your choice; your experience…dining, shopping and entertainment on your own.

Pittsburgh, PA to Perryopolis, PA (Pittsburgh 48 miles, Southside 44miles, Waterfront 36 miles):  Enjoy breakfast at your place of lodging;  you will be joined on today’s pedal by a Steel Heritage Foundation guide who will provide oratory along the first 12 miles of the industrialized portion of the GAP….lunch  will be provided: lodging will be at The Inn at Lenora’s in the small town of Perryopolis, PA, just three miles from the Great Allegheny Passage; this evening’s gourmet dinner will be prepared by your Innkeeper/Chef – Lenora Polander.  Lenora’s has been selected as one of the top 20 restaurants in Pennsylvania by The Server Magazine (restaurant not open on Sunday).

Perryopolis, PA to Confluence, PA (40 miles):  Your morning will begin with a delicious breakfast…you will pedal or be shuttled (your choice) to The Passage…lunch will be in the pedal/paddle town of Ohiopyle at the Firefly Grill; your evening’s lodging will be in the town of Confluence in the Confluence House B&B; dinner and wine tasting of PA wines will be enjoyed on property.

Confluence, PA to Deal, PA (36 miles):  Breakfast will be at your B&B; lunch on your own…may we suggest the Rockwood Opera House; your shuttle will pick you up at Deal (The Continental Divide); you will be shuttled to The Savage River Lodge for this night’s lodging  atop 700 acres…this retreat boasts two-story, upscale luxury cabins; the 75-seat restaurant in the lodge house serves American Regional Cuisine; menu items include local game and fowl; dinner will be enjoyed here.

Deal, PA to Cumberland, MD (24 miles):  Breakfast will be served and you will be shuttled back to Deal where you will enjoy a leisurely decent down the mountain to Cumberland…here you will lodge at our B&B (The Inn On Decatur)…the entire upstairs will be for your use (no other guests); lunch will be at one of Cumberland’s outdoor cafes, this afternoon I can take you for a walking tour of Cumberland, rich in Colonial and Industrial history and then you will enjoy an afternoon tea at the Gordon Roberts Museum; this circa 1880 mansion showcases life when Cumberland was a boomtown; experience our colonial streets with a horse drawn carriage ride…tonight you will dine at Ristorante Ottaviani’s.

Cumberland, MD to Little Orleans, MD (43 miles):  Enjoy a yummy breakfast at my B&B…I will pack my “Hit the Trail” lunches for you; today your journey will start on the C&O Canal; travel through the Paw Paw Tunnel (flashlights are advised) …tonight you will lodge at Town Hill B&B; this romantic 1916 hotel was built to serve travelers along Old Route 40/Old National Pike…from this remote place you can see three states – PA, MD & WV; Donna will serve one of her delicious “home-style gourmet” dinners.

Little Orleans, MD to Hancock, MD (and Berkeley Springs, WV) (15 miles):  Donna will send you off today with a full breakfast, your short pedal will find you in the small town of Hancock where you will be shuttled to Berkeley Springs, WV…Berkeley Springs, a fountainhead of warm mineral springs frequented by Native American Indians…then in 1776, George Washington’s Family and friends incorporated the “Town of Bath”…the spa.  Your suite lodging for this evening will be at the Country Inn…lunch will be at the Inn; as for the rest of the afternoon we suggest soaking in the Mineral Baths or a massage, pedicure, manicure, facial etc…this great little town has some very trendy shops…spend your afternoon enjoying the relaxation of this perfect little town…a great getaway place for Washingtonians; dinner will be at Tari’s.

Hancock, MD to Shepherdstown, WV (big pedal day) (50 miles):  Breakfast at the Inn; today you will pedal to Shepherdstown…lunch at the Desert Rose Café in Williamsport…you will come out at the Cushwa Basin.  Tonight you will lodge at the World Class Bavarian Inn…European styling overlooking the river; tonight dine on your own…you may consider dining on property or a short walk into town…we can make suggestions.

Shepherdstown, WV to Leesburg, VA via White’s Ferry (37 miles):  Enjoy a full breakfast at the Bavarian Inn; back to the towpath; 12 miles into the towpath, stop at Harper’s Ferry; this Civil War town dates back to the time of John Brown’s Raid; hop back on the Towpath to the railroad town of Brunswick. MD; here you will lunch at the popular eatery – Beans In The Belfry, a must along the Towpath; on to White’s Ferry where you will ride on the last remaining ferry on the Potomac River (the last of a fleet of 100’s); a shuttle will pick you up on the Virginia side of the river; tonight you will lodge at the Comfort Inn and Suites; dining will be at the Blue Ridge Grill.

Leesburg, VA to Washington, DC (37 miles):  Start your morning with a delicious breakfast prepared at your hotel; today’s trip will end in our Nation’s Capitol, Washington, DC…but first, enjoy lunch at The Angler’s Inn, a one-of-a-kind treat.
